Not sure what a Virtual Assistant (VA) is or what they do? Let’s go through some terminologies you may have heard before;
· Virtual Assistant (VA)
· Virtual PA (Personal Assistant)
· Virtual Business Partner
· Virtual Business consultant
· Virtual Business Development Manager
You get the idea..
A VA, VPA or any of the above, are basically freelancers who provide services in a particular field whilst working remotely using their own office and resources.
A VA can generally be hired for 2 hours or 200 hours. This is a smart option for small businesses requiring management of one off or regular tasks and the benefits are endless.
The main benefit from hiring a good VA, is getting your time back.
What do VA's do
The types of tasks a VA will manage vary from day to day office functions, creative design, administrative support to business development support services. Each VA has a unique skill set on offer and they usually have many years of experience in EA/PA or support roles. Generally VA's are business owners and sole traders unless you source a VA through an agency.
A quality VA service can help you reach your personal or business goals quicker.
Who uses VA's?
Small Businesses can benefit by outsourcing various admin or Social Media management tasks. Sole traders with no employees, like the ‘one man/woman band’ businesses who are either not at the stage to employ a part or full time secretary or don’t quite have enough work to justify putting on a staff member all could benefit from the flexibility of having a VA virtually 'on call'.
Start up businesses. Trying to manage everything in their new business and don’t have time to do the online PR and social media management or can’t afford costly advertising to get their brand in the marketplace.
Busy Professionals who simply don't have time and need someone to help them in some areas they either find too time consuming or frustrating. Personal Concierge services and Virtual PA's are becoming increasingly called upon to assist with work/life balance for the busy.
Any business wanting a cost effective option to those pricey online marketing services. When you are in start up mode, you generally need to do and be everything and it gets challenging trying to do it all! Like I found with my own my start up business and I am in the business of working with other businesses to manage those tasks to free up more time! Being a business owner myself, I know what it can be like trying to juggle everything. Why do we think we have to do it all ourselves?
The key is to delegate what you can, when you can,
