It seems like that almost overnight, social media has gone from being just a 'social' platform to being a 'must' when it comes to marketing, especially for SME's. Branding and online presence is no longer just for the big organisations. 68% of Aussie internet users have a social media profile.
Keep up with the changes. Don’t get left behind! Opportunities for marketing online are evolving and so SME's should also evolve their marketing plans to incorporate social media platforms.
If your business doesn't have a strong online presence, how do the online consumers find you and why would they remember you?
Have a guess where half of our Aussie consumers are? Online.
Have a guess how many times a day (on average) they check into their social media accounts? Up to 5 times a day.
There are still plenty of SME's who are not actively using social media marketing. Some set up a Facebook business page and then do very little with it. You have to work it to make it work and you need to be across multiple platforms.
If you don't have time, outsource. If you don't know-how, outsource. And here's a win-win for the Facebook haters..... outsource the ongoing management. It will work for you without you even having to touch it, and unless you tell your customers it's not actually you posting, they will be none the wiser and your brand will be in the forefront of their minds as a result of that regular online exposure.
Maybe the infamous anti-marketing algorithms frustrate business owners to the point they have given up trying to do anything with it at all. Better to outsource the ongoing management than to throw the baby out with the bath water, so to speak. Please don't take your business out of the game all together. You are missing out on potential sales and business growth is limited.
There is opportunity to make an impact.
59% of smartphone users in Australia who look up information about a local business will actually visit that business after looking it up on the smartphones. I personally do this all the time. I google the business from my smartphone, click on the maps if I'm heading there or click their number to call.
The mindset that only the Millenial (GenY) consumers behave this way is getting outdated as quickly as technology is evolving.
If 70% of Aussies have a social media account, shouldn't your business be present in some of those popular platforms too? It's worth your time to delve into the social media marketing world even if you dip your proverbial toe in with an Online Starter Pack for just $35 per week .
